Elite Edge offers an affordable and convenient axe sharpening service. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, landscaper, farmer, or homeowner who needs a sharp axe for chopping firewood, brush cleaning, or other outdoor tasks, you need a sharp axe.
Importance of a sharp axe
A sharp axe is a safe axe, blunt edges slip easily and can cause injury. A dull edge also means more work, leaving you huffing and puffing when you should be chopping through wood with ease.
TYPES OF AXES WE SHARPEN
We sharpen felling axes, splitting mauls and hatchets. Each has its angle that we meticulously follow to ensure they provide the best performance.
felling axes
Felling axes are designed for cutting across wood grain, typically for chopping down trees. They have a narrower, sharper blade with a bevel angle between 15° and 25°, ideal for clean cuts across tough wood fibres.
SPLITTING AXES
Splitting axes are used to split wood along the grain, making them perfect for turning logs into firewood. They have a wider, wedge-shaped blade with a bevel angle of 25° to 30°, allowing for greater force and penetration in splitting tasks.
HATCHETS
Hatchets are versatile, one-handed axes ideal for chopping kindling, small branches, and general camping tasks. They usually have a 20° to 25° bevel angle, balancing sharpness and durability for lighter chopping and shaping.
